Laura: Give it a go; you never know. Honestly, things started happening for me almost as soon as I stopped caring about competing; it was as if I'd thrown a switch. As for the cannibalising, I can't think of a significant part of them that I've reused, but I've kept them all, and it's not over yet. I've used the worlds they were set in here and there: e.g. 'Dedication Day' in White Time is set in the world of my big fat failed fantasy novel no. 1.

I write fiction. My latest novel is Zeroes, the first book of the Zeroes trilogy (YA fantasy), a collaboration with Scott Westerfeld and Deborah Biancotti. My novel Sea Hearts is published as The Brides of Rollrock Island in the UK and the US. I've also written Tender Morsels and five short story collections: White Time, Black Juice, Red Spikes, Yellowcake and Cracklescape.

Cool interview! Not sure whether I should be encouraged or not by "Take your eyes off the prize"....
Did you ever end up cannibalizing bits of the books that didn't work for other pieces?
Curiously,
Laura
Mmmmm... Mr. Tumnus...
